This Memory Mirror was created for the Centennial Celebration of the MFHA. Items were donated by a variety of foxhunters across North America and by the artist. This piece will be on the 2007 Art Tour coordinated by the MFHA and Cross Gate Gallery. It measures 24" x 47" x 5" and weights about 45 pounds.
Below is an alphabetical listing of all of the buttons kindly donated by various members and friends of the MFHA for permanent use on this Centennial Artwork.
It has been fascinating collecting these buttons, they are all beautiful and a glory to see, and it is so interesting to read about the history of the buttons that have been sent. Some buttons are off your own coats, some have been snipped off of a spouses coat, while many are from the coats of famous foxhunters. Some buttons come bright and shiny new, ready for adventure; one donor proudly gave her newly earned and yet-to-be-worn buttons, while others donated buttons that are aged, and have a patina about them that begs to tell of their illustrious history in the hunt field.

On this Centennial Artwork there are 181 individual hunt coat buttons, from 155 recognised and registered hunts in the MFHA in 2007, including Lt. Col Fosters' special MFHA hunt coat button, and one button from the Middleburg Orange County

Beagles, that was kindly donated to be part of the fun. This is possibly one of the largest current public collections of MFHA hunt coat buttons in existence.
I can not take credit for all of this without mentioning the work of Carla Hawkinson, MFH of
Tennessee Valley Hunt, who so kindly sponsored me on their website and generated the "Button Hunt" from among her friends and acquaintances, without her, this collection simply would not exist. Carla, dba "Fluffy" made it happen.
I also want to thank my hunt, the Mission Valley Hunt, for underwriting work on this piece, without them, the button collection would not be as extensive. MVH also was kind enough to underwrite the hunt whip and thong that was so generously priced from that wonderful establishment,
Horse Country. A huge thank you to Marion and Wendy at Horse Country for their help, advice, patience and generosity.
If you are interested in commissioning a Memory Mirror please contact the artist. This website should be finished soon, please check back soon for more information and to view other Memory Mirrors and much more.
